The Big Sketch, co-ordinated by local artist, Eileen Ferguson (in association with County Monaghan Heritage Office). 30 local professional and amateur artists will each paint a section of the iconic painting 'Monaghan Market' by Henry MacManus (c.1830). This event will take place all day on Saturday 15th March at St Macartan's Hall, Park Street. The sections will be assembled at the end of the day and unveiling of the finished piece takes place at 6pm.

Blackwater Canoe Trail Extravaganza

A two day canoeing extravaganza will be held on the river Blackwater Canoe Trail on the 9th -10th May sponsored by ‘Blackwater Regional Partnership’.

Friday, 9th May: We would welcome all who could assist with the promotion of the Canoe Trail and would like to have the opportunity to experience first hand a short section of the trail i.e. from Moy to the Argory. All equipment will be provided plus instruction and insurance. Participants will only need person clothing-details will be sent to applicants. Lunch will also be provided.

Itinerary
Assemble at The Argory - 9.30am
Transport of equipment and paddlers - 10.00am sharp
Launch at Moy and basic canoeing instructor - 10.30am
Depart for The Argory - 11.00am for leisurely paddle down stream
Arrive at The Argory for lunch - approx 1.00pm
Briefing on the development of the NI Canoe Trails - 2.00pm
Depart - 2.30pm.

Canoeing Extravaganza

Did you miss the opportunity to paddle the new Blackwater Canoe Trail in December or perhaps you would like to have another opportunity to enjoy the trail again. On Saturday, 10th May a special event is being organized for canoeist with the financial support of Blackwater Regional Partnership.

Itinerary
Registration at Charlemont Bridge car park, south of Moy from 9.30am
Vehicles to Verner’s Bridge or The Argory by 10.00am, return transport provided
Depart Moy at 10.30 am
Lunch will be provided at The Argory from 12.30pm
Registration check at The Argory and draw for canoeing equipment (£300) at approx 1.30pm
Depart the Argory after draw and paddle to Verner’s Bridge
Registration check at Verner’s Bridge required before departure

Participants are required to pre register with the CANI office, including a fee of £5.00/person which will be donated to a charity.
